Wake up at 0600 for pre-breakfast landing on Floreana Island to see the Post Office Barrel and take a short walk followed by a panga ride to La Loberia (sea lion colony). Saw Magnificent Frigate Bird, Cattle Egrets, Yellow Warbler, Galapagos Flycatcher. Back on board for breakfast at 0800.

Julian off for snorkeling trip to Champion Island at 0930, Mary Jane off in glass bottom boat. A good variety of fish were seen by both including sharks, King Angel Fish, Pincushion and Chocolate Chip Starfish. These outings were followed by a panga ride looking for the Floreana (Charles) Mockingbird - this bird is extinct except on Champion Island which is a volcanic cone near Floreana Island. MJ had already seen one during glass bottom boat trip but went in panga with Julian anyway and the mockingbird was seen again (3 birds). Also Yellow-crowned Night Heron, Audubon's Shearwater, Red-billed Tropic Bird, Swallow-tailed Gull and Mag. Frigate Bird.

1230 - a traditional Ecuadorian buffet lunch was served complete with a suckling pig wearing sun glasses. All sorts of food to eat. The fruit has been wonderful every day.

1530 - Visit to Punta Cormoran (although there are no cormorants there) landing on a greenish beach followed by a walk to a white beach. We saw the Flamingo Lagoon where there were Greater Flamingo, Least Sandpiper, Semi-palmated Plover, Cactus Finch, Smooth-billed Ani, Galapagos Flycatcher, Yellow Warbler, Ground Finch, Great Blue Heron and White-cheeked Pintail. There were sea turtle nests on the white beach along with a sick immature Nazca Booby on the beach.

Julian snorkeled along the cliff here - single instances of 4-5 fish species. A disaster happened here - MJ dropped her binoculars in the salt water - we rinsed them off with fresh water but one side has fog. Fortunately we sent them for repair when we got back home, and they are now as good as new.

After dinner (Red Snapper) we had a lecture on stars and the Southern Cross was pointed out as we crossed the equator). Good visibility for starwatching.
